Catholic Schools Week

Catholic Schools Week

January 14, 2007

Dear Friends:

In two weeks, we will observe Catholic Schools Week in our parish. This is the time each year that we honor our school’s excellence and highlight its mission and traditions. It’s the time that we reflect on the high-quality, faith-focused, values-added education that we offer and remind our entire community of the vital contribution we make to education and the quality of life. Most of all, it’s a time to celebrate!

This year’s Catholic Schools Week theme is “Catholic Schools: The Good News in Education.” The logo, which you will be seeing around the parish on banners and posters, features an open book, symbolizing both the Bible and knowledge. The theme is a particularly fitting message for our times, underscoring the Christ-centered foundation and academic excellence of Catholic schools.

Many of you, like me, see the wonderful reality of Catholic education every day at our school. It’s in the dedication and integrity of our principal, Janet Brogan, teachers, staff, administrators, board members and everyone else involved in running St. Paul’s School. It’s in the hard work and accomplishments of our students who, day by day, are learning and growing in the Lord and gaining a values-filled education. It is in the commitment of our parents, guardians and volunteers who give selflessly of their time and talents to help make our school excellent.

Please join in our Catholic Schools Week celebration. Participate in the activities and, if you can, volunteer your time. Visit the classrooms during our Open House, meet with the teachers and students, and congratulate them on their accomplishments. Encourage friends and neighbors who may be considering Catholic education for their children to visit the school. Not only is this a time to celebrate, it’s also a time to spread the word about the “good news” in education!

Yours in Christ,
Msgr. Joe
