Religious Education

Why is adult religious education necessary? What do you remember from your religious education? Could you explain your faith to someone who is curious but knows nothing about Catholicism?

Most people’s religious education ends with the reception of Confirmation, at around the 7th or 8th grade. Those who go on to Catholic High Schools or colleges will have a broader spectrum of information, but that knowledge will dwindle as age increases. In addition, childhood classes in the Catholic faith could not provide an adult perspective or understanding, thus you have adults with sketchy knowledge and ideas of their faith.

St. Paul’s provides adult religious education and faith formation on the Catholic faith and the words and deeds of Jesus. This education provides you with the opportunity to apply this knowledge to adult life situations.

The following religious education opportunities are offered at St. Paul’s:

Journey in Faith

Are you:

  • An unbaptized person?
  • A non-Catholic interested in learning more about the Catholic Church, with or without the goal of becoming a Catholic?
  • A baptized Catholic who never received First Communion or Confirmation?
  • A baptized Catholic who received First Communion but not Confirmation?
  • A baptized Catholic who received little religious instruction after receiving Confirmation?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then we invite you to attend our Journey in Faith Series, also known as RCIA. What are the Benefits of Attending the Journey in Faith?

A warm experience of Christian community awaits you. You will share with others a new and deeper appreciation of the riches of the teachings of Jesus through weekly sharing of Scriptures. Many people have experienced healing from loneliness, anxiety, or painful memories.

The Journey in Faith is an opportunity to take an updated adult look at today’s Catholic Church and to experience the psychological uplift others have found in their relationship with the Lord.

This wonderful experience is for both non-Catholics who wish to explore the Catholic faith, as well as for adult Catholics who wish to renew or update their faith, or prepare for First Holy Communion or Confirmation.
